CULTURE AND WILDLIFE
CULTURE AND WILDLIFE
Six nights in two of Madhya Pradesh’s top tiger reserves (Kanha and Bandhavgarh) followed by a week of cultural immersion in Khajuraho, Varanasi – the spiritual capital of India – and Jaipur, the fascinating ‘Pink City’. The trip culminates with a visit to Agra to see and experience the ethereally beautiful Taj Mahal.
We think this itinerary strikes the perfect balance between wildlife and culture with a full six days in two reserves to fnd the Bengal Tigers and many other species of mammals ranging from the massive gaur (India’s bison) to the diminutive cheetal or spotted deer. The birdlife is fantastic too. Once the wildlife itch has been scratched, there’s several more days to explore India’s incredibly rich and diverse cultural offerings in four areas, each with its own distinctive appeal.
Khajuraho
Khajuraho’s magnificent medieval Jain and Hindu temples are adorned with intricate and explicit sculptures, representing a unique fusion of religion, art, and human sensuality.
Varanasi
Varanasi, considered one of the oldest living cities in the world, holds immense religious and cultural significance as a sacred pilgrimage site for Hindus and is renowned for its ghats, where spiritual rituals and ceremonies – including public cremations – take place along the holy river Ganges.
Jaipur
Jaipur, known as the “Pink City,” captivates visitors with its majestic palaces, vibrant bazaars, and rich cultural heritage, offering a fascinating glimpse into India’s royal history and Rajasthani traditions.
Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal in Agra stands as an iconic symbol of love and architectural masterpiece, showcasing exquisite Mughal craftsmanship and attracting millions of visitors with its timeless beauty.
